Science Summary Expectations
Science summaries are one of our routine assignments generally (twice a quarter).
1] We as a class watch a science video. The video links are posted on my weekly log page in case they need to be revisited.
2] Students take notes. We have discussed note taking strategies in class.
3] I offer a class writing prompt, students may use if they wish. [past prompts are posted in class near the class calendar.]
4] Students hand write [at least 250 word] summary of their notes they took from the video. *unless an exception is written in a 504 or IEP* Then a printed verse will be turned in.
5] students turn in their Science Summary AND NOTES. The Summary is stapled on top of the notes, the turned into the wooden chair the first 5 minutes of class.
This is NOT graded for spelling or grammar.
The assignment is intended to have students get use to taking notes and summarizing their notes in their own words.

Antibiotic-a medicine (such as penicillin or its derivatives) that inhibits the growth of or destroys microorganisms.
Concentration- is the ratio of solute in a solution to either solvent or total solution. Concentration usually is expressed in terms of mass per unit volume.
Dilution- the process of reducing the concentration of a solute in solution, usually simply by mixing with more solvent.
Resistance (bacterial)- The ability of bacteria and other microorganisms to resist the effects of an antibiotic to which they were once sensitive.
